Surgical Care
Should you require surgery, you need a proven expert.
When surgery is the best course of action, you will be glad to know that Cascade Foot & Ankle is the educated choice of many area physicians. Drs. Cardon and Johnson have the credentials referring physicians look for.
Dr. Cardon is a diplomate of the prestigious American Board of Podiatric Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. And Dr. Johnson is board-qualified in foot surgery and reconstructive rearfoot/ankle surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery.
Patients like their gentle state-of-the-art techniques that reduce pain and make surgery dramatically easier to undergo than most people expect. Many patients find themselves able to go back to work and continue their normal activities shortly after surgery.
And if you’re suffering from foot or ankle pain from a previous unsuccessful surgery, you should visit Cascade Foot & Ankle. We perform conventional and advanced corrective procedures for previously failed foot surgeries.
From the most routine foot problem to the most complex cases, both you and your doctor can trust our knowledgeable care.
Heel Pain
Find lasting relief from chronic heel pain.
Painful lumps, or heel spurs, can grow behind or under the heel bone, and Drs. Cardon and Johnson can relieve your pain often without surgery. That’s because they spend time to understand exactly what’s causing your heel pain. Is it an inflamed fascia or is it nerve pain? They’ll perform a comprehensive examination to get to the root of your problem. Most of our heel pain patients don’t require surgery.
Drs. Cardon and Johnson can use a combination of shockwave therapy, custom orthotics, injection therapy, physical therapy and/or medication to help you walk comfortably again. When conservative treatment does not relieve your pain, they can also perform minimally invasive endoscopic plantar fasciotomy (EPF).
Sports Injuries
Advanced sports injury care.
Whether you’re a hard-training competitive athlete or a weekend warrior, you know the pain and frustration injuries can cause. When you injure your foot or ankle, it can sideline you for long periods of time if you don’t get proper treatment. Drs. Cardon and Johnson have the training, experience and specialized expertise you need to stay competitive. Some of the sports injuries they treat include:
• Plantar fasciitis/heel pain • Tendonitis
• Achilles tendon injuries • Ankle sprains
• Toe injuries, including turf toe
Diabetic Feet
Helping diabetics rest their feet and ease their fears.
Both Drs. Cardon and Johnson are highly trained and experienced in the maintenance and management of diabetic foot issues. They will take special steps to help guard you against infections, foot ulcers and damage caused by poor circulation. And this includes educating you in the latest ways to care for your condition.
Other Conditions
Progressive care for bunions, hammertoes, neuromas and flatfeet.
If you suffer from any of these conditions, you may have been told that surgery is the best solution. But Drs. Cardon and Johnson take a conservative approach to treatment and can often alleviate painful foot problems without surgery. When surgery is the best option for lasting relief, it is usually performed at an outpatient surgery center. An anesthesiologist is always on hand to make sure you are comfortable throughout the procedure.
Bunions – If conservative, nonsurgical measures don’t bring relief from your bunion pain, we can correct the deformity with a “bunionectomy” procedure, in which we surgically realign the bone, ligaments and tendons to restore your big toe to its proper position.
Hammertoes – Hammertoe is a term used to describe a crooked, deviated or contracted toe. We can treat hammertoes with protective foot pads or surgery, if needed.
Neuromas – Neuromas are caused by the thickening of the outer coating of a foot nerve. We may recommend custom orthotics (shoe inserts), injection therapy or shoe style/size. If symptoms become severe, surgical removal of the neuroma can provide lasting relief.
Flatfeet – If your foot’s arch loses its strength, the foot’s framework begins to collapse, causing the foot to flatten. We may prescribe special custom orthotics (shoe inserts), physical therapy and medication to relieve pain and inflammation. Surgery may be considered in severe cases.
